Clutter is not just a physical stuff. It's old ideas, toxic relationships, and bad habits. Clutter is anything that does not support your better self.
No matter where you are, where you belong, or what you do, there is clutter everywhere.
It is something that follows you naturally, but when it interferes with our lives, it causes problems. This is when decluttering items or elements of your life comes in.
Clearing entails decluttering. Clearance entails separating yourself from or getting rid of things that no longer make sense to you. Decluttering then takes the form of improved physical or mental agility.
Physical decluttering involves clearing or organising up the spaces making most of the empty areas in our homes or using the best–out–of–waste concept, etc.
Mental cluttering involves clearing your mind, mediation practicing relaxation to get rid of your old baggage or past.
It is essential to declutter your lives, but we are often so equipped with our busy schedules that we don’t formulate a way to maintain a thin line between cluttering and decluttering.
How does mental clutter looks like
Mental clutter has various forms of mental distress which includes the following
stressful experiences
mess
thoughts
traps or ignorance
irritations
pains
worry
anxiety
Here are an easy few step that when practiced can help you declutter your life.
1. Clear your mind
Everything starts with what you think or how you think and what made you think over a particular thing.
The first things towards practicing decluttering are to ask ‘why’ over every ‘what’ and ‘how’.
Mediate each day all day to declutter your thoughts and emotions. challenge yourself that you will no longer be a part of any negativity or anything which will contribute to a great number of clutters in your life.
2. Start small
Make small progress. Set aside perhaps five minutes every day to organise a tiny space, such as a desk drawer or your automobile. Set aside more time once you've gained some momentum. Set aside a Friday afternoon to reorganise your workplace.
Declutter your kitchen this Monday, then embark on a new home project next weekend. I must alternate cleaning sessions with creative sessions. It works well to binge-watch old movies while throwing out my old stuff. It's effective to listen to podcasts while cleaning.
3. Organise yourself
Follow a schedule. Live a life of purpose by having a certain timetable and a certain routine to follow. Make a–do – list read it changes it fix it and follows it. Commit to your words and remove the tasks which are not necessary to be followed.
4. Remove toxicity from life
From toxicity remove everything that does make you a well individual be it habits or people or unhealthy practices which leads to nothing but utter discouragement.
Consider every individual in your life. Then, get rid of anyone from your life who isn't worth your time or effort.
5. Consider your goals
Live a life of purpose and demand. Make your goals realistic. Challenge yourself through hard work, perseverance, and dedication. Set your goals up to a point where you no longer feel drenched and lethargic to follow but instead you are passionate and dedicated towards it.
Make sure your objectives are reasonable and not overly broad by reviewing them. Create an action plan for how you'll implement them after that. If necessary, record each step you take in writing.
6. Multitasking is not a key.
Stop multitasking. Multitasking does help you in reducing your time, but it asks you the twice or thrice amount of effort and concentration that multiple tasks require when handling them.
You're not focusing on one or two topics at once, but rather quickly switching between them.
Therefore, multitasking is not merely detrimental. Additionally, it makes your brain work hard to make sense of what's happening.
Focusing on one thing at a time is preferable to the other option. When it's time to concentrate on deep work, you should solely be concentrating on that. The only thing that needs your immediate attention is cleaning out your inbox or closet. The rest must be postponed.
7. Practice mindfulness
Mindfulness meditation is one of the finest techniques to declutter your thoughts and reduce tension and anxiety. Because mindfulness focuses your thoughts and attention on the now, it is effective. You will no longer be preoccupied with thoughts of the past, the future, or negative self-talk.
8. Follow a healthy diet
Have a proper intake of food. Follow healthy eating habits which make your body and mind function efficiently and properly without causing harm.
9. Get a break
Plan numerous breaks throughout the workday and take short pauses. Take a little stroll, read a book, or gaze out the window. Establish limits at home. For instance, don't check your phone when you're eating dinner. Go out and enjoy yourself this weekend by doing something unrelated to work.
Disconnecting from the internet allows you to consume less information and gives you time to unwind. Of course, you want to expand your knowledge and abilities. But too much can make your brain clog up.
10. Try to make decluttering a part of your habit.
Finally, decluttering involves more than just cleaning and organising. Maintaining your commitment to leading a clutter-free life is also important.
Do it often such that you know yourself and the world around you in a much better, realistic, and organised way. Let yourself contribute greater to your life than any other unnecessary things which grab your attention and stick to you throughout your life.
Clutter is not just a physical stuff. It's the old ideas, toxic relationships, and bad habits. Clutter is anything that does not support your better self.
